Валютні союзи: ретроспективні та сучасні форми

Abstract

UK: В статті досліджено особливості формування і функціонування валютних союзів у світовій економіці. Розглянуті ретроспективні форми валютних союзів, їх основні характеристики та віхи діяльності. Підсумовано переваги та недоліки створення валютних союзів. Встановлено, що причиною розпаду валютних союзів, в більшості випадків, стали політичні фактори, які проявились після державної уніфікації учасників, поглинання ширшим союзом чи воєнних дій. Найбільш наглядним прикладом серед існуючих валютних союзів є Економічний і валютний союз ЄС. Успішне запровадження євро мало «демонстраційний ефект» для інших регіонів світу та стало каталізатором процесів валютної інтеграції у різних регіонах світу. Зазначено, що процеси регіональної валютної інтеграції поступово приводять до формування валютних союзів. Доведено, що успіх функціонування валютних союзів залежить від ефективних інститутів і політики, спрямованої на врегулювання асиметричних фінансових і реальних потрясінь, які впливають на його членів. Виявлено сучасні тенденції формування та розвитку валютних союзів.

EN: The paper is designed to research the features of formation and functioning of currency unions in the world economy. The retrospective form of currency unions, their main characteristics and activity milestones are considered. The advantages and disadvantages of monetary unions are summarized. The determined key causes of monetary union’s collapse were political factors that emerged after the state unification, participants’ absorption, broader alliance or military action. The most illustrative example of the existing currency union is Economic and Monetary Union of the EU. The successful introduction of the euro had a «demonstration effect» for other regions of the world and became a catalyst for monetary integration in different regions of the world. It is noted that the processes of regional monetary integration gradually lead to the formation of the monetary union. It is proved that the success of the operation depends on the currency union’s effective institutions and policies aimed at resolving the financial and real asymmetric shocks that affect its members. Modern tendencies of formation and development of monetary unions are considered.
